How My Entire Family Got Sick

Today, I’m going to talk about how my entire family somehow ended up getting sick. And guess what? It all started with me. One single person. Me.

Well, technically, I wasn’t the first person to get sick. It actually started at school. First, two kids disappeared from class because they were sick. A few days later, they came back, but then another two kids were gone. One kid returned, another kid disappeared, and it just kept happening. It was almost like a chain reaction. One person got sick, passed it to someone else, and eventually, it was my turn. Lucky me.

The first few days were definitely not the best experience. Actually, it started out pretty terrible and somehow managed to get even worse. I was extremely sick, completely exhausted, and basically stuck in bed. Nothing I did seemed to make much of a difference. I just had to wait for my body to recover. And since I’m a kid who was extremely sick, I may have done a little bit of yelling and complaining along the way. Okay, maybe more than a little bit.

Then came my dad. I don’t know how, but my dad actually managed to hold out for quite a while. He survived about two days of me being extremely sick before finally getting sick himself. Fortunately, he didn’t get quite as sick as I did. There was really only one day when he could barely speak, which was definitely not a great experience for him. But compared to what I went through, I think he got off pretty easily.

And then there was my mom. Oh, my mom. She was so confident that she wasn’t going to get sick. I can still hear her voice in my head: “I’m perfectly fine. I never get sick. I never get sick!” She was practically celebrating her amazing immune system while the rest of us were struggling to survive.

Well, guess what happened next? She got sick. Yes. My mom, the supposedly invincible person who apparently never gets sick, finally got sick. I don’t know why, but I really hope she doesn’t remember me talking about how she was definitely not going to get sick. Because now that she actually is sick, I have a feeling she’s not going to be particularly happy about this part of my story.

So there you have it. First me, then my dad, and finally my mom. The entire family, defeated by the flu. I guess being surrounded by sick people and somehow staying perfectly healthy isn’t quite as easy as my mom thought it was.

Anyway, moving on to school. Today was another one of those days that just seemed to drag on forever. We did have a few interesting activities, but honestly, that was about it. Nothing particularly exciting happened.

Another thing I’ve been thinking about lately is how much I dislike winter. I mean, winter is okay, I guess, but it’s definitely not my favorite season. Everything is just so cold, especially in the morning when you have to get up for school.

Imagine this. You’re lying in your nice, warm bed, completely comfortable under your blankets. Then your alarm goes off. You finally drag yourself out of bed, and suddenly you’re standing there in your underwear, freezing cold, wondering what on earth you’re doing with your life. So naturally, you climb straight back under the covers. Ah, warmth. Happiness. Everything is perfect again. Except there’s one tiny problem. You still have to go to school. And that means you have to get out of bed all over again.

So yes, between my entire family getting sick, school being boring, and the weather getting colder, life has been pretty interesting lately. Not necessarily in a good way, but interesting. And that’s pretty much what I’ve been dealing with.
